Can the hardware and software of TELLING LIVES be customized to meet the
interpretive needs of individual historical societies?
The answer is yes.
TELLING LIVES has current plans to upgrade the system with authoring
software that allows the host institution to easily change the questions on
the screen. This will make the use of TELLING LIVES flexible for use
with different topics within the institution's own time frame.
Currently, TELLING LIVES can be seen and used at New-York Historical
Society's exhibit, New York Divided, Slavery and the Civil War (through August 2007).
In 2005 - 2006, New-York Historical Society collected 5,000 stories in conjunction
with its exhibit Slavery in New York. Click here for a sample of some of
the collected stories.
